Rod Spears
Rod Spears are a simple form of recovery tool. they are used to recover Drill Rods or Couplings from the borehole by friction grip. When lowered into the borehole the taper is engaged in the tubular or coupling and downward load applied. This action wedges the spear in the rod and when lift is applied it removes the rod or coupling from the hole.
The long conical tapered spear has two tapered sections. The large diameter is for the Rod tubing and the small diameter for the Coupling. The spears are heat treated for maximum strength. Rod Spears are also supplied in a square tapered form if required.
